Gutekunst shows willingness to move on from draft picks
Gutekunstloves his draft picks. It’s the one reliable tenet of his roster-building philosophy. He's a volume shooter each spring, hoarding picks at a colossal rate. He’s been known for his patience in the fall, allowing time for his drafted players to develop.
As Gutekunst approached the NFL’s deadline to submit thePackers initial 53-man rosterfor 2024, it was apparent something had to give. He drafted 35 players over the past three springs, two-thirds of a regular-season roster. Gutekunst knew he couldn’t keep everybody.Difficult, but necessary, decisionshad to be made.
