2023Buyer List by Exhibitor
If you have serious potential buyers, have them contact the Extension Office for a pass to get in on sale days. If you are selling a market animal or showing a dairy animal you need to get out and promote the market or dairy products sales.
Buyers Letters
A buyer’s letter is a letter that a 4-H member sends out to potential buyers before the fair to tell them a little about themselves and their animal, and to invite them to the fair and livestock auction.
Why should you write a buyer’s letter?
It is your responsibility to help get new and returning buyers to come to the livestock sales. Some people come to the fair every year and buy one or more animals but without new buyers a time may come where there aren’t enough buyers to purchase all the animals. New buyers or returning buyers that are happy with the letters they have received are more likely to come to the fair and pay the premium prices we all enjoy receiving for our animals. Buyers pay far more than the market value of the animals we sell and it is up to the individual exhibitor to encourage as many potential buyers as possible to come to the fair and bid on their animals.
Many buyers have told us that they love personal letters from the 4-H and FFA members.
A list of possible buyers might include your family doctor, dentist, eye doctor, orthodontist, insurance agent, and banker. It might also include places where your family does business like the grocery store, restaurants, hair stylists, mechanics, or contractors. Your family veterinarian, feed store, equipment and/or car dealers are other possible places to send letters to. Don’t forget to send letters to people who have previously bought your project animals.
Here is a great new resource for information about how to invite buyers to support the sale. This resource was developed by the Wayne County Junior Fair Livestock Sale Committee.

2023Buyer Thank You List
The document lists the exhibitors in alphabetical order, with all of their buyers and the buyers'addresses grouped along with them. Every exhibitor selling their animal(s) at the Junior Fair livestock sales MUST write a “Thank you” note to the buyer(s). Every auction participant must submit a thank you note before they receive their auction check.
The Thank You Notes/Letters must be submitted to THE EXTENSION OFFICE.
This “Thank you” note is to be delivered to the Extension Office IN A STAMPED, SEALED AND COMPLETELY ADDRESSED ENVELOPE WITH THE JR. FAIR EXHIBITORS NAME WRITTEN IN THE RETURN ADDRESS! The note itself must be brought in to the Extension Office to be checked off before mailing.
