Hillsboro Mile (State Road A1A) will be closed intermittently between Hillsboro Inlet Bridge and S.E. 10th Street. Work began at the south end of the mile and is progressing north. Project Work Hours will be from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., Monday-Saturday, Excluding Holidays. Flagman operations are likely during work hours. Full access to Hillsboro Mile (State Road A1A) is expected to be restored by the end of October 2019.
The road closure is necessary to allow Broward County Water & Wastewater Services to replace the aging Sanitary Sewer System. These sanitary sewer system improvements will be completed at no Cost to property owner.
The Hillsboro Mile Project improvements include the following:
In most cases, there will be four phases, which will impact the street in front of your house:
1. The first and most disruptive event occurs during excavation and installation of the sewer pipes. This work moves slowly. The construction contractor will clean-up the work zone at the end of each work day and make sure the area is kept safe.
2. Installation of the sanitary sewer service laterals occurs after the sewer main line is installed. The lateral pipe-laying work should not take more than a few days at each property. Contractor will clean-up the work zone at the end of each work day and make sure the area is kept safe.
3. Road restoration begins after the utilities are installed. Contractor will install the base rock, grade and compact the rock in preparation for asphalt installation. After the road rock is inspected and approved, the asphalt will be installed.
4. Final Restoration will occur to all areas that have been affected by construction (i.e., mailbox, road, grass, driveway, etc.).
